HOW YOU CAN HELP

The works of the Society of St. Vincent de Paul of Racine involve our members as well as other volunteers. We welcome people of all backgrounds, skills and interests to assist us in working with those in need to improve their lives. Volunteers are you, me, the person next to you in church or behind you in the grocery store checkout.

Home Visitation

Home visits are always done as partners. An experienced lead visitor sets up the visit, which may occur virtually or in the neighbors home, assesses the needs and suggests available resources to meet those needs. Training and resources are provided to visitors. The partner helps to assess the needs and provides support to the lead visitor as well as to the families we visit. Visits are scheduled based on the availability of both the caller and the visitors. A typical visit would only require about an hour’s commitment.

Volunteers are needed to help sort, shelve and package the food. Others are welcome to register recipients and distribute food. The pantry at 926 LaSalle St., Racine, needs help from 9:30 am to 1:00 pm, usually in two-hour shifts, on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays.
